GI Selects is a fast-rising, multi-genre DJ, whose eclectic musical taste knows no bounds. In just over 4 years, he has built his name from mixing for his friends at house parties to performing at popular venues and events in his city, Nairobi.
He is well known as one of the DJs at the forefront of pushing the new wave of music, particularly from Kenya and expanding into Africa. He blends urban Kenyan sounds like Shrap and Gengetone with African and global sounds like Hip-Hop, RnB, Afrobeats and Dancehall at most of his live gigs and online platforms.
His fun-loving and positive energy manifests in his sets and you can see how much he loves and enjoys every single song he plays. If you’ve seen him perform live, then you know how he draws in his audience and makes them part of his performance; every set is unique and full of surprises which keep even his most loyal fans guessing.
GI Selects was the winner of the 2019 Cafe Ngomma Award for Best Alternative DJ and has headlined some of Kenya’s major events and festivals like For the Culture (2019) and Kilifi New Year’s Eve 2020. He has been Barak Jacuzzi’s official DJ since 2017 and the DJ on call for many performing artists emerging from his city.
